Fingerprint issue with banking app & Bluetooth visibility

Hello, everybody,

I have been using your roms on my Mi 9 SE for a few months now and I am very satisfied. Thanks a lot for your great work! The Mi 9 SE is a great phone, but there are 2 points I would like to ask your advice on:

1. Since I moved from the original global MIUI rom to you, I can't use the "Login via App" function on my Swiss banking app "PostFinance" anymore. With the weekly version (currently installed 9.12.26 [MIUI11/A10]) an error occurs when trying to register the fingerprint with the "Login via App" function and the process is aborted. With the stable version (MIUI11/Pie), the same error occurs, but you can complete the operation after entering the lock code. Unfortunately "Login via App" still does not work after that. As soon as you try to confirm the login to eFinance on your smartphone by fingerprint, an error message appears and the process is aborted. I executed several clean flashs on my SE and am now back at the Weekly. I also found some posts in the forums here, where users report similar problems with other banking apps. Unfortunately, almost no one responded to them. One user reported that his app is working again after deleting the system cache, but that doesn't help me either. My bank has now updated their support policy and says that the app does not run on rooted phones, but this is not entirely true as the quick service feature still works. My last hope is that someone here has a helpful idea to resolve this issue.

2. I was surprised to find out that my Mi 9 SE is visible all the time (not only when i am in the BL settings) when Bluetooth is enabled and there is no way to limit the visibility unless you disable Bluetooth. This is really unpleasant and I have never experienced this with any other phone / manufacturer before. It seems that this is intentionally the case with all Xiaomi smartphones. Can you confirm that? Is there no way to correct this mistake in your roms?

Thanks in advance for your feedback.

Hi tdematt,

1. No, unfortunately not. At some point, my bank had also adjusted its app support to the effect that rooted devices are not supported in general.

2. I had simply resigned myself to it because only Xiaomi could adjust MIUI accordingly. However, I just tested it again and with MIUI 12.5 by xiaomi.eu my MI 9 SE only seems to be visible when I go into the Bluetooth settings there. So now everything seems to be as it should be.

Thanks for the quick reply. I will wait for the Bank or Xiaomi to fix that :/

After months of having no problems, the MIUI 12.5 21.1.6/7 update has given my Mi 9 SE the death blow. Even after a clean wipe/install using various recoveries with several rom versions, my device kept booting into either the bootloader or recovery after a reboot sooner rather than later. Only the installation of the last official stock rom (global) made my device usable again. I'll stick with it (all that's really missing is Google Discover), but would like to mention the following here:

After re-locking the bootloader my phone and installing the global stock rom, I can finally use my PostFinance Banking app respectively the "Login via App" feature again without problems. So you don't have to wait for your bank, or for Xiaomi to fix that. It's not a bug, it's a security feature.

:D
