Specifically, I don't know any other way to install the software upgrade than via twrp. Once I accidentally forgot to flash twrp after system upgrade, so I had to install twrp on my phone via PC. The problem for me is that I don't always have access to a PC so I need twrp because besides the system I need it to install Magisk.Question, why is twrp required for updating the phone correctly, outside of adb with fastboot? If twrp is always going to get erased after every new update? Why can't we click the update button, to download the ota. Then it installs from there, and then reboot?
I dont have TWRP at all. Unlocked the bootloader and flashed Xiaomi.eu ROM on fastboot mode.Question, why is twrp required for updating the phone correctly, outside of adb with fastboot? Exactly. That's what I was thinking. I mean, yeah, you still have to connect your phone via cable to your computer or laptop. I just wish there was an actual one-click solution where you just download it on the phone itself and have it self-install. But I mean a person can dream.I dont have TWRP at all. Unlocked the bootloader and flashed Xiaomi.eu ROM on fastboot mode.
The zip file with the Xiaomi.eu ROM has a batch file for Windows, Linux, etc, and each file with one different command (update, wipe and update, etc).
No, I dont see a reason to use TWRP, to be honest.
Nope twrp is not required. Flash via script and phone in fastboot mode. Patch the init_boot.img before with magisk and overwrite the original file, then flash via script. So you dont need twrp.Question, why is twrp required for updating the phone correctly, outside of adb with fastboot? If twrp is always going to get erased after every new update? Okay, I see what that term means now. It's the names of the phone or the series of phones belonging to that specific firmware or version of firmware.ROMs for HOUJI, NEZHA and ATHENS reuploaded due to a Widevine issue.
We'll be sure to add "snap your fingers to install the ROM" feature for you too.Exactly. That's what I was thinking. You just figured that out? The table on the first post is very self-explanatory.Okay, I see what that term means now. It's the names of the phone or the series of phones belonging to that specific firmware or version of firmware.
Might be a stupid/annoying question. But could you clarify why a seamless OTA solution like that isn't an option for xiaomi.eu? On stock ROMs it works as well...We'll be sure to add "snap your fingers to install the ROM" feature for you too.
We don't use payload format because we don't build from source and we don't have incremental OTA, so A/B is out of the question.Might be a stupid/annoying question. But could you clarify why a seamless OTA solution like that isn't an option for xiaomi.eu? On stock ROMs it works as well...
Does the unlocked bootloader simply make this kind of a/b staging impossible or is it just too much of a hassle to implement because of device differences?
Not trying to complain, just curious.
Since you have Magisk, it meants that you have root and you could run the appropriate sh script from the Terminal EmulatorSpecifically, I don't know any other way to install the software upgrade than via twrp. No, I dont see a reason to use TWRP, It's good for you to have access to a PC.
Thanks for the instructions, I'm doing the software upgrade installation via twrp.Since you have Magisk, it meants that you have root and you could run the appropriate sh script from the Terminal Emulator
You will find the sh scripts when you unzip the EU installation zip package
Actually, unzip first and take the boot /init_boot omg out, patch the img from Magisk, rename and replace the original with the patched one
Then run the sh script from TE with root grant and voila
All that you can do from the phone, with no need for PC
Btw, when flashing via TWRP, then TWRP is instructed to run that script
I mean, not trying to sound like a stick in the mud. But, why not add in a disclaimer that strictly states that OTA updates do not work as functioned for the foreseeable future. Would've saved a few headaches, clicks, and making mandatory OTA installs via Fastboot/adb the required/recommended method. Since, not everyone has access to a desktop/laptop. Plus, the OTA install button acts more like a notification, than an actual install. As noted by past threads going back over half a decade. We'll be sure to add "snap your fingers to install the ROM" feature for you too.

Then talk to the developer of the Updater app, @ZduneX25, it's none of my concern.I mean, not trying to sound like a stick in the mud. I get you. I apologize if I sounded like an ass, earlier. I just wanted to throw that out there. Since, my pro max isn't able to have the bootloader relocked, and the CN rom flashed back on there. That's why the only path forward is with the EU ROM.Then talk to the developer of the Updater app, @ZduneX25, it's none of my concern.
The primary method of installation has been fastboot for years already.
Do you have installed any root modules that could cause this issue (especially something with microG or YouTube)? My Xiaomi 14 is not rooted and I don't have this issue. Now, with widevine latest fix with the latest reupload work perfect (Expert for battery drain).
I noticed that "Google services" (in italian, "servizi Google") Is duplicated into settings menu.
Thanks very very much deve for your hard work, very appreciated
Only with data format and only if that custom ROM didn't replace any partitions not flashed by our ROM.can I clean flash from custom ROM?
