Yes, just unlock your bootloader, install TWRP, download the version you want (stable or beta) and install it (there full instructions in the first page). But do not re-lock your bootloader.

I run it on my Mi8 (10.0.8.0 stable without root, only unlocked bootloader). No problem, I can even use AR+. I believe you wouldn't have any problem on your Redmi 5 Plus.

I just did this today. Installing .eu rom over your Global ROM will wipe everything you have, so better backup your data. If your only concern is Photos, install Google Photos (and sync). So, after installing the EU rom, you will have your photos back.

Did the procedure described by exxxtasy worked for you? I was wondering if did 'cause to be able to use GPay your Bootloader must be locked, and since (probably) your Mi8 is a Chinese variation, you can't lock your bootloader with EU rom. Can you please give us (me) some feedback?
