Try flashing the boot.img... The backup is usually in /data... If not, just extract it from an ota... If that didn't work, just download the fastboot rom and flash it using mi flash (this doesn't require restoring stock recovery)... Sent from my MI 5 using Tapatalk

On your pc, with the fastboot/adb tools... the command as I said before is "fastboot boot yourtwrp.img" without quote, just replace yourtwrp with the correct file name... Sent from my MI 5 using Tapatalk

Depending on the firmware you are in, there is twrp for 6.0 and 7.0... If the 3.1.0-1 is working for you before, then it should still work, you can test it via fastboot boot before flashing it... Sent from my MI 5 using Tapatalk

You have to reboot to recovery once or twice after flashing for it to stick... Try this method, fastboot boot twrp.img, send a copy of twrp.img to your device then using the booted twrp flash the file that you've sent to your device... From twrp use reboot to recovery, then reboot to recovery...

Download twrp.img in your pc... Copy to your device fastboot boot twrp.img In recovery, flash the twrp.img on your device... Reboot to recovery just to make sure it is there... Sent from my MI 5 using Tapatalk
