Spoke too soon. I have double info for each contact, one correct and one random.

Found the solution!!! Installed google calendar, opened it, allowed it to access my contacts. Birthdays are now showing in both google calendar and default calendar. I then uninstalled google calendar, all is still well in default calendar.

Can anyone tell me what MIUI optimization under developer options means? What it affects? Someone suggested to turn it off to get better data rates, it's turned on by default on my phone.

Never mind. Had to enter innbox first and attach picture, got asked to give innbox nececery permision, works fine now.

Don't know if anyone reported this but sending pictures from gallery via innbox is not working.
