2.5gb 'other files' after clean install

I installed twrp and wiped the phone then installed miui 11 xiaomi.eu. Before I installed anything, no backups etc, there is 2.5gb of 'other files'

I have another phone with Chinese version of same rom, it only has 0.9gb of other files but has way more apps installed.

Any ideas?

Anybody know? It was my first time using twrp. Is it a twrp backup of the rom, does it do that by default? I ask because I had to flash the rom twice due to not wiping userdata the first time. The rom is 1.26gb so the misc storage being 2.5gb makes me think its that. If it is, how to clear that data so it doesn't build up at every rom flash.
