3 different version being sold! confused 0.o

i live in china and use a mi2, but my roommates are going back home and some of my friends there wanted to buy hongmi.. i tried to buy it from official website but thats just impossible.. it gets sold out in minutes.. so i looked it up on other websites and there are 3 different versions being sold here:
1. official website version
2. chinamobile version
3. china unicom version
are the unicom/mobile version carrier locked? if so can they be unlocked? because my friends will obviously not use the mobile in china. please recommend which one should i buy.

EDIT: also to the developers, will the ROMS be different for the 3 versions? or just different modems?

You don't say where "home" is, but I can tell you that Hongmi's China Mobile version doesn't work with USA-'s T-Mobile data service at all.

really? i bought a used mi2 for 1150.. i was gonna buy hongmi after my galaxy s2 broke.. but i saw used mi2 being sold at ~1100ish... i told my friends the same thing but they said they wanted a new phone which is kinda stupid.. i still have 3 months of warranty left on mine

For Pakistan I think there is no mobile 3g working at the moment so any one is OK

Yeah but they'll start 3g and 4g services early to mid next year.. There was some kind of conflict in the contract with the Marines fibre cable or something.. They'll auction off the spectrum frequencies soon.. The carries have already laid down the infrastructure.. Just the auction left..

But anyways I was more interested in knowing the community support for each version.. ROMs and stuff.. Any compatibility issues etc

then buy the wcdma version . dont buy td-scdma version
1. its will work only in china (3G)
2. Out side of china only wcdma version is popular so community support will be much better for that version
