Bypass Mi account

Is there a way to bypass Mi account in case of forgotten password? I have Mi 8 which has broken motherboard. I bought second mi 8 and replaced motherboard on the first one and now it is locked to Mi account. Is there a way or suggestion where I can remove this protection?

Go to i.mi.com and reset your password, either log with email or with phone, you should get an email to reset it.

i guess he meant the phone is now locked to someone else's mi account... which hopefully cannot be circumvented as it is a theft prevention.
