Can't update my firmware after changing region from EU to Global

Hello everyone,

A few days ago I changed the firmware region of my European Xiaomi 14 using fastboot, switching from the EU build to the Global one. Right now I’m on 2.0.204.0.VNCMIXM, but it isn’t the latest version.

The problem is that I’m not receiving OTA updates. Even when I try to manually download and install the OTA package, the installation fails — so I’m basically stuck on this version.

I also tried changing the device region in settings, but it doesn’t make any difference.

Has anyone experienced this or knows how to fix it?

Thanks!

Maybe you should wait for HyperOS 3.0 for Xiaomi 14.
Maybe then an OTA update will appear

OTAs are usually disabled as soon as you unlock the bootloader, and as soon as you flash a ROM that's not originally meant for the device, you have no chance.

You can still manually download the update fastboot packages and use them to update manually though.

It's not true. I unlocked the bootloader on the Xiaomi 15 and after turning it on I received an OTA update for HyperOS 3.0 (3.0.4.0.WOCEUXM)

Well then I guess one of Xiaomi's thousands of bugs regarding bootloader restrictions applied in your case.

Anyways, the OP stated they flashed a foreign ROM and as I said, that kills the OTA functionality completely.

Global ROM Its not foreign ROM.
The problem may be the unlocked bootloader, not the Global ROM.

If his device is EEA, global ROM is indeed a foreign ROM since it's not designed for the device.
Which also means that his device type is not registered on the corresponding update servers so he won't receive OTAs.

Do not quote the previous post.

EEA is also a Global ROM/device, like RU, TW, etc.
All Global devices are identical.
You can flash any Global ROM to any Global device without problems and receive OTA update.
The only question is whether the OTA update works or not when the bootloader is unlocked.

In my case it works, even though the bootloader is unlocked.

So maybe in the future I'll receive an OTA update?

If I come back to EEA what happens? Everything back to normality?

Thank you!

Is your bootloader locked?
When you try to update from recovery, what error is displayed? (Download and copy the recovery zip file to the device on storage root)
You can download the recovery image using https://xmfirmwareupdater.com/archive/hyperos/houji/

1. Check if the Updater application is enabled on "Authorization & revocation"
2. Check that the same application, Updater is enabled. Eventually clear application data and restart your phone and then enter on Settings -> About phone
Wait for couples of days.

I have Xiaomi 13, purchased in EU with EEA stock rom, but I flashed xiaomi.eu as soon as I was allowed to unlock the bootloader. In this summer I flashed Taiwanese stock rom, I locked back the bootloader and when was the case I received OS update notifications.
So I guess in your case could be an issue with the Updater application.

If you lock bootloader you will receive OTA update (It doesn't matter if it's Global (MI) or EEA (EU) ROM).
If not lock, maybe yes, maybe not

I tried to install recovery from that website, but it says impossible to install the rom.

My bootloader is locked.

Any other ideas? I'll try the trick with the updater app too.

Thank you.

Has anyone experienced of glutaone whitening cream this or knows how to fix it?

Yes, The issue might be caused by the unlocked bootloader.
