If it works like (unfortunately!) everywhere else in Android, the date format changes with the language you select. This is a terrible design decision by Google, but what can you expect from a US-centered wordview? They just cannot imagine that you might want to use a different date format from that used in the country of your chosen language. If your's is in English, play around with the different forms of English that are offered. It makes a big difference in date formats whether you chose English (UK), English (US) or English (wherever else).
