Hi everyone,

I’ve got a Xiaomi device (Mi 11) with a cracked screen and a battery that’s starting to wear out.

I’m considering repairing myself to save some money, but I’m not sure if it's worth the risk.

Has anyone here successfully repaired their Xiaomi phone (especially screen or battery)?

Are there specific models that are easier to work on? Are there any recommended tools, guides, or pitfalls to avoid?

I’d appreciate advice from those who’ve tried DIY repairs on Xiaomi devices. Should I risk it or go to a pro?

Hey, I've repaired a few displays (11 Ultra, 14 Ultra). Generally, it's quite doable if you're comfortable with small components and screws. I definitely recommend a screw pad to keep track of the screws. Replacing the battery is easy, but replacing the display is rather difficult (it's much easier to buy a display with a frame). You should always be careful not to screw the screws in too far, otherwise the panel will break.

Generally speaking, always pay for expensive items from China using a payment method with good buyer protection (e.g., PP). In addition, Xiaomi phones are well suited for repair, as original spare parts are available at comparatively good prices.

About the parts:
- You can get original batteries for less than €10.
- Displays are available with and without frames. Even if they say original and new, most displays are glued onto used frames. You also have to be careful of fraud; I've already had €200 stolen from me in packages containing worthless items from China.

About your device (Mi 11): The screen is relatively expensive, around €90-100. You can also auction it off or buy it used for that price. Replacing the display is therefore less worthwhile.
