Encryption on xiaomi.eu 8.8.3

Dear all, please help. I have succesfully installed the xiaomi.eu rom 8.8.3 but cannot encrypt phone. The process starts but after 2 hours it's still going on. Any ideas? Thank you. And thank you for the ROM.

Same problem, MIUI 10.0.2.0 - Trashed the phone when i gave up waiting after 6 hrs and rebooted.

I found out on XDA that xiaomi.eu roms aren't encypted. Pitty.

Have a reply from Xiaomi.eu founder that suggests this should work?
