Flashing Miui12

I am currently confused as to what to do, to install miui 12 rom. it says:

• TWRP Recovery Zip DOWNLOAD or TWRP.ME
• FORMAT /data partition (NEVER wipe System or Persist!) <-- Do i have to wipe/format anything and if so, what am I formating/partitioning?
• Copy our ROM to the internal storage
• Install our ROM
• Reboot
• done

Why are looking after complication?
It is written, format data. So does it in TWRP and NOTHING ELSE.

Boot TWRP, then go to wipe, then on the bottom choose FORMAT DATA and confirm the warning, that's all (see screenshot). After that copy the ROM to the internal storage or use OTG-stick and install it.

Thanks for the clarification. One last question though, I saw someone saying that Google apps like the play store were not installed on this version:

I just want to make sure that it has google apps and passes google SafetyNet because i would like to be able to use all of my current apps

Google apps are included and normally devices pass SafetyNet.
