HELP

My friend just gave me his motorola droid for verizon he had rooted it with the D1-MIUI 0.12.3.0 version i believe. It will not allow me to call *228 to activate the phone. I was wondering if there was any other way to activate it without unrooting it back to the factory setting

Long press on the 0 key to get a + symbol on dialer. dial +*228.
