No recovery (TWRP, OF).
The update is a fastboot version that installs using the fastboot method.

You can install TWRP/OF but it probably won't work on Android 13.
There is no working TWRP/OF available for your Android 13 device yet.

On the MIUI 13 Stable thread I see a lot of people confused about the command they should use on a 12T Pro / Diting. Examples:

Here @gogocar62 suggests to use REC, and @katerpanne thinks is the root of issue (according to https://xiaomi.eu/community/threads/miui-13-stable-release.64441/post-676275):

Can anyone suggest the right command and way to do this on a Diting phone, please?

Thanks!

I created an account in the forum just to thank you for the Info! Worked great on my Poco F4 GT/ Redmi K50G
I was stuck during the custom recovery install process, all info I found online pointed towards me booting the twrp image directly (wich was a mistake)
For anyone else stuck with the "Failed to load/authenticate boot image: Bad Buffer Size" error, just follow the post pointed at by gogocar62 above.

@katerpanne @gogocar62 @Igor Eisberg

Thanks again for all the support you continue to give to us really "noob" users!

One quick question to be sure:
I am now running MIUI 13.0.13 Stable + TWRP SKKK 3.6.2 v5.1 A12... and I would like to upgrade to MIUI 14 stable for my Mi 11 Ultra.

I have seen the correct procedure to do, but at this point I am wondering:

can I first do the TWRP update with the "Install Recovery Ramdisk" command and then flash MIUI 14?
In other words, is the newer TWRP for the phone ("twrp-3.7.0_12-v7.0_A13-star-skk.img") backwards compatible with the MIUI 13 I have now on the phone?

Thanks again for your help!

No need to update TWRP.
You can update the ROM in TWRP that you have now on your device. At the same time you update your ROM, you will also get TWRP updated

Ok perfect!
thank you for the clarification.

So that's enough for me:

- Download the ZIP file of the latest MIUI 14 Stable into the phone.
- Flash the ROM (and related formatting) with the TWRP 3.6.2 v5.1 A12 that I have now as recovery.
- Once done, command "Format Data" (to do a clean install), and reboot.

Do I then automatically have the latest TWRP? is it embedded in the ROM? Perfect I didn't remember this detail.... Thanks!

you mention that during the procedure "- optional you can flash TWRP permanent with "Install Recovery Ramdisk"
where exactly has that to be done and how? sorry if i ask something obvious for you, but i am not really well informed, i just manage to follow the tutorial to install the ROM step by step, but I did not find how to fix the TWRP permanently.
thanks a lot in advance.

This procedure only applies to models with A/B partitions.
Rename the downloaded TWRP to twrp.img
Connect phone to PC in fastboot mode.
1. run TWRP using the fastboot command:
Code:
fastboot boot twrp.img
2. Insert the downloaded TWRP into the phone.

Could you please indicate me where to find this name ?
Thanks.
