I can't update my Xiaomi mi3,no updater app???

Hi this is really frustrating, I have my Xiaomi mi3 phone for a little over a week now and I can't update it. It did not come with a updater app, which it should have, and now I'm in the dark as haw to install or upgrade it. I would like to get miui v5 on there, I have tried 20TIMES TO INSTALL OR UPDATE IT AND I Can't , HELP ME PLEASE

Rename zip to update.zip and apply in MiRecovery

I have the same issue. OTA update says I have the latest and I have tried using the update app which crashes every time I select the newer ROM and also recovery mode which stops at 90+%.

Any help or suggestion much appreciated.

Have you checked you didn't buy a fake? Install Cpu-z and check parameters.
