Apparently they are two different devices.

As far as i know Xiaomi released 4 variants of the Redmi 4: Redmi 4, Redmi 4A, Redmi 4 Pro and Redmi 4 Prime.
At that does not even count for the "High" variant of the regular Redmi 4.

I'd be glad to be wrong, though. Please help to clear my mind up.

Xiaomi's marketing REALLY should clear their mind up with their naming scheme in the first place!

Considering all the trouble he went through, I would say Pro and Prime are two different variants.

I know they are basically the same phone, but I'd like to a specific Prime version.

Maybe you are getting mixed up with the Redmi Note 4 pro.
I am sure many tech sites get confused.
Even a quick google search for "Redmi 4" will bring mainly Redmi Note results. Maybe Pro/Prime is just a translation issue?
As far as I can see there are 3 versions, Redmi 4, Redmi 4A and Redmi 4Prime.
I could be wrong here, and I agree that Xiaomi should do more with the names of their phones to differentiate them more.
But at the same time, the naming probably makes perfect sense in Mandarin...

However, the Redmi 4 Pro is also identified as markw on several MIUI community websites...

This increases my confusion even further...Prime is identified as HM4Pro, Redmi 4 Pro is also markw...I don't know, I should probably change device altogether!

ROM is HM4Pro... so Pro = Prime = markw

you can change rom name to "Redmi 4 PRime" because it's very similar "redmi note 4 pro" and new member is very confuse with it

So i believe that my phone is the Xiaomi Redmi 4 Prime version because of the 3GB Ram and snapdragon 625

As i understood from the answer from Krisenax that my phone needs:
xiaomi.eu_multi_HM4_V8.1.4.0.MCECNDI_v8-6.0.zip

and not the
xiaomi.eu_multi_HM4A_V8.1.6.0.MCCCNDI_v8-6.0.zip

or the
xiaomi.eu_multi_HM4Pro_V8.1.3.0.MBECNDI_v8-6.0.zip

It's all a bit confusing that Redmi (note) 4(X/Pro)

Phone has been arrived last Thursday with Global Rom Version: miui global 8.2 Stable 8.2.1.0 (mbemidl)
I have request for an unlock for the bootloader at http://en.miui.com/unlock/ but i didn't get unlock yet.

I also have downloaded the rom:
xiaomi.eu_multi_HM4_V8.1.4.0.MCECNDI_v8-6.0.zip

I am ready to go as soon as i get the unlock code
Hopefully i don't have to wipe DATA before installing the EU rom because i have setup the phone already with all apps
