Just got a galaxy s2, need help sorting miui

Hi, I got a galaxy s2 with miui already on it, but the version I have dates back to 2 weeks ago

I was just wondering if there was a guide I could follow to update every week? Also, would I lose any settings / contacts / apps if I updated?

I'm pretty new to android and all this custom rom stuff but MIUI seems to be where it's at
