LEO - EDL no locking Android 5 ROM flash, then update by Android 7 TWRP recovery

Hi! Perhaps someone could help me with this. I've recently updated to official China Miui 9 ROM with MiFlash. Now I don't want to wait 30 days to unlock my bootloader. I can flash a non bootloader-locking ROM switching the device in EDL mode. Then I can root it and change the recovery. But I don't know if I can flash an Android 7 Xiaomi.eu ROM while the official installed ROM is Android 5 based.
