Hi Forum Members

Having had various Xiaomi phones in the past from early 2s, and messing with roms etc I was given a Google Pixel 7a as work phone and stuck with it. Yesterday I found an old Mi8 in the draw and my wife suggested I gift it to my daughter to chat with her young friends. So I wiped it....duh. Now it's asking me to activate the device. I cannot. It was associated with an older Mi Account which I cannot remember and I no longer have the Sim I used, nor can I remember the password. Basically I'm stuck as to what I can do to get this phone working.

I have the imei numbers and serial numbers from the box but that is about it. Can anyone suggest a method I could use or a fix for this issue please.

Much appreciated in advance.

I have the exact same problem, but it seems that nobody has the solution?
Have you managed to do anything with your phone?

Sorry. Been writing to Xiaomi for help. Like they don't read the mail. Keep telling me to put my phone number in. I do not have it. Keep telling them. It was a Pay as you go Sim..... I had a few as I used my phone mainly working overseas and only used when in uk on vacation. Told them so many times. Hi we are here to help ....put your phone number in and........grrrrrrrrrrr.

Cant you just go on the official Xiaomi page and go on forget password?
Try all the e-mail addresses you got, maybe per chance it will be one of them.
Dont remember if adding an email-address was mandatory but the option is there to reset it.

Cheers for response. This is where it gets mad. The email I am sure I used was deleted by my son somehow. I originally set it up so he could use my email it on his X-Box as I was paying his subscriptions. He was trying to be smart and did something that deleted it from Microsoft. Id had it for years and no way to get it back from Microsoft. Screwed me up big time.

Frankly this Mi8 phone is just surplus but thought it would be good for my daughter. I've told Xiaomi I do not have the number I used nor the password. But they keep responding for me to enter my number in. I DONT HAVE IT. Keep telling them.

No, email was not mandatory and I used a prepaid number, which I don't have any more - hence my phone is unusable.
I will try to go to Xiaomi shop and see if they can help. Will report here.
... but I hate the fact, that Xiaomi is preventing me usage of the phone that I bought and paid for - will think twice before buying another phone from them ...

Same for me. I started with Mi2s and had two. Mi4, Mi8 Mi10t 2 x Poco f2's another Redmi and another two Poco phones. Been a bit of a Xiaomi fanboy for years but this experience has gotten me mad. I even proved I bought it. And everytime I reply to an email they respond the same crap but from a different person asking the same thing.
