It's probably like that on purpose.
Xiaomi also downgrades the quality of photos you store in their cloud albums.
I noticed this when some of my.hd wallpapers looked blurry. I re downloaded them from my mega account and they looked flawless, yet the ones I had in the Xiaomi cloud album were a actually of a smaller file size.
