hey guys, we all know the mipad doesnt have gps.

does anyone know or has the experience with using MiPAD with any sort of bluetooth gps device? i've never had to use one with any android device before. would be nice to have this functionality when i'm traveling etc.

tried this between mipad and mi2s and must admit is working like a charm!
Can use tomtom from mipad this way! gonna test it on the road

Thanks @ingbrzy and @Daniele F

my thought was that using a dedicated gps receiver would use much less battery than using some kind of wifi tether. i suppose this is more of a question about MIUI in general, than just the MiPAD itself...

is it possible to use an external GPS source as well as data tether to a phone like my mi2s? i might be asking too much now ;)

hello
can anybody try the following procedure and checking if it works on the mipad?

To achieve this I use the following Apps on google play :

on the phone, 'GPS over BT'on the tablet, 'Bluetooth GPS'

On the tablet, you need to make the following change if you want to be localized by Google Map for example.

The following values must be added to your /system/build.prop file
You can make it simply by the app 'Build.prop Editor' on Google play.

gps.enable=true
ro.com.google.locationfeatures=1

Then start the GPS on your phone
and start the GPS over BT app.

On the tablet start the Bluetooth GPS App.
It will turn on bluetooth if needed and can pair your device with your phone if it is not already done.

Click on the Connect button and check the 'Enable Mock GPS Provider' chechbox.

@manolone thanks man! I finally got around to trying your instructions, and they work perfectly on my mipad. I can use the GPS in my mi2s as the GPS source on my mipad, exactly as you had described. The build.prop modifications are definitely required. Thanks again.
