Hello fellow Xiaomi users. I recently swapped my oppo find X2 Pro for a mi 10 ultra and notice after trying to factory reset I was met with some flash/bootloader software (correct me if I'm wrong as I'm clueless) called TWRP.

I'm aware that the mi 10 ultra is a China only model but I wondered whether TWRP is necessary for the phones operation in the UK?

I'd prefer to go to stock but if it's not possible, let me know.

Kind regards,
Alex

It'll work on a stock rom, if you can get used to having all sorts of Chinese popping up even when you've selected English, can get around the bloatware and the - in my own experience - limited Google apps functionality. I can't imagine why you wouldn't at least want to have the stable EU rom from these devs here on it, which is a dream to work with. You can only get that installed with twrp, true, but it's very easy and works like a charm.

Thank you for the reply :) I've got zero experience with installing ROMs you see, so I don't even know what version I have, and where to find that information :S

If it makes everyday use better I'll definitely keep it as is, or install a better version if you could help me troubleshoot?

The main reason I asked about stock is due to updates etc. I wouldn't know where to get started with updating the ROM I currently have and whether there has been an security compromises.

Cheers,
Alex

There's plenty of people here that will help you troubleshoot, provided you do your research on the forum and at least read what is in the first post regarding how to install a rom. It's quite easy if you follow the instructions.

Once you have set it up correctly, installing updates is a breeze: two clicks on the update app will be all it takes. Go stable if you want a relaxed and as close to stock rom experience, or choose weekly for more frequent updates with the latest software so you will have this as soon as it comes out, but some bugs will still have to be ironed out so you shouldn't mind those.

I've just replied to your identical post on XDA, so I won't repeat it here but pop over and take a read to decide which way to go. Lots of help here and on XDA for you. But here is a guide I made for the 10 ultra. Obviously all ROMs are now twrp versions, so ignore installing a fastboot ROM, the rest is still relevant. https://mega.nz/file/fIoWUD4a#q1S3wYoOltgaPcchAiXc3dHal7Sf31k5BZQBM4xy6NE
