It is a known issue that has to be fixed by Xiaomi itself, as it affects many different messaging apps like WhatsApp, Telegram, etc...
If you can, please confirm the bug here by clicking on the orange "confirm button" after login http://en.miui.com/forum.php?mod=viewthread&tid=981643&highlight=telegram
I know that's about Telegram, but as I said it's the same issue
