Power Button Repair

My Power button had some issues lately. Now it Isn't working anymore. Neither when I remove the cover and pressie the button with a toothpick. I want to open the telephone te see if I can repair it. But then I wonder if I can Power up the telephone without using the Power button. Maybe when playing the battery back when the phone is charging? Can someone test this for me?
