Proximity sensor

When i make a call the screen always stays on unless i close it from lock button. When i receive a call the sensor works fine and close the screen. Is this normal or not? i don't use screen protector and i am trying to keep screen clean. if i make a reboot to the phone it seems like the first time i make the call works fine but the second the screen is on

I had similar problems with proximity sensor on 3.2.*
A clean update (data wipe) did the trick

i don't use a screen protector and the malfanction of the sensor is only in the case i make a call when the screen stays on. When i receive a call works fine.
I did a fresh install but it didn't fix something.
