[Q] stock SMS notifications

I would like to disable the unread count that pops up on the stock SMS app since I'm using handcent instead. Anyone know now to do this?

Open the SMS app, Menu > Settings > set 'Notifications' to off?

I'd like to know the same thing. Setting notifications off in the stock SMS app does not suppress the counter on the SMS icon.

This is very needed. The slider screen keeps a count.... Mine is at like 3 or 4 hundred.
Edit: If we could use the native txt message popup with Handcent that would rock my world.

I am using Go SMS pro.. to overcome this count issue, i have simply uninstalled the stock messaging app .. u can do this using titanium backup pro or super manager or some root app.

After that, select handcent or Go SMS as your default sms app and enjoy.. the sms count is no more annoying and the lockscreen popup stays using go sms as native app
