Question regarding chinese Xiaomi device

Hello everyone!
I'm looking to purchase a Chinese Xiaomi phone, more specifically the Xiaomi Mi 11 Ultra.

It will be the first Chinese Xiaomi device I'll own so I have a few questions...

1. I'd like to flash it with the Xiaomi EU/Global rom, will that do any damage to the functionality of the phone?
2. What are the differences between the Xiaomi EU and Global roms?
3. If every released, will I be able to update OTA? If so, what it requires me to do beforehand? Will it wipe the device?
4. Will the device support Google wallet and banking apps?
5. Will the device support Google services updates and be compatible with them?
6. Will I be able to do all of the above using HyperOS 2 - Android 14?
7. What are the risks in doing all of the above?

Thanks in advance!

You probably won't even be able to unlock the bootloader = no installing alternative ROMs.
1, Some apps that require security are not working (Google Pay, Revolut, some banking and government apps, McDonald's, etc.)
2, https://xiaomi.eu/community/threads/xiaomi-eu-vs-global-rom-differences.37425/post-345686
3, There will be no further updates. Support for this device has ended.
4, not everything: https://xiaomi.eu/community/threads...integrity-google-pay-wallet.75761/post-748452
5, Basically yes with the limitations described above.
6, Yes, the current ROM from xiaomi.eu xiaomi.eu_STAR_OS2.0.1.0.UKACNXM_14.zip
7, The risk is Chinese devices as such nowadays. (You must follow the instructions, risk of bricking)

I do not recommend buying CN devices unless you are an advanced user of Android devices. Buy the global version with Global ROM and locked bootloader.

Thanks for your reply, I really appreciate it.

Sadly there's no global version with global rom that I can get locally/shipped, all I see is the Chinese version, some sell them with global rom though, would you recommend getting one of these instead? What should I look for/what questions are important when doing that?

I've unlocked LG, Samsung and Google devices bootloaders, would you say that's enough to mess around with a Xiaomi? I know that they can be picky..

Thanks in advance!

If the seller sells a Chinese device with a Global ROM, there are two options.
1, the device has an unlocked bootloader and a Global ROM installed (see the problems from the first post)
2, the device has a locked bootloader and a "fake" Global ROM is installed. So no updates.

The problem is that Xiaomi has restricted/disabled unlocking the bootloader of Chinese devices outside of China. This means that you won't be able to unlock it.

I understand, thanks, I'll check that with the sellers.

What does a "Fake" global rom mean? Never heard of anything like that before..

How does Xiaomi enforce that rule of not unlocking outside of China? ID or do I need to physically be there?

Thanks in advance!

It's a modified Global ROM.

- Chinese ID
- Chinese SIM
- CN account level 5
- pass the test/exam
- I think also CN payment instrument (payment card)
