Greetings, good people.

I bought Redmi 4a in December, and i am not getting any updates. I checked the version of the firmware and found out that MCCCNDI might mean that this is fake ROM. How do i go about flashing Custom or Official ROM now. Are there any specific things i need to do, or i can just root, flash recovery and after that custom rom?

Hello,

I have exactly the same problem with a Redmi 4a bought also in december (same MIUI version build number MMB29M with Android 6.0.1 MMB29M).
Every day it downloads an update for MIUI8 et try to install it via a reboot.
But everyday it indicates that the "update failed".
If you have found a solution, I am interested.
I would at at least be happy to avoid the update attempt and the fail message, because it is my wife's phone and every day she's complaining about me to get rid of this problem
Thanks in advance

For unofficial ROM, you need to download fastboot ROM and flash it on your phone
You can get the ROM from miui forum and tutorials how to do it
