Invalid Redmi - camera suddenly stopped working and gallery too

Hi

So when I take a photo, it displays temporarily in the little icon below the viewfinder, then disappears. It is also not saved in the gallery.

Also, now when I delete photos from the gallery, they reappear later.

Since then, I have cleared the cache of the internal camera app and installed the latest system update - neither have fixed this problem.

However, if I take a photo from within an app, say Whatsapp, this works.

Are you on stock ROM?
If not what rom version and device.
So someone can provide better help with this info

Yes stock ROM, I haven't done anything to the phone since buying it 6 months ago.
