I think it's as good as it gets on xiaomi EU, if you want a more battery efficient device go for the snapdragon based note 4, or others that use the SD625 chip.

Unfortunately, I doubt that they will put any work into the Mediatek version. We all just made a mistake purchasing the MTK version of the device, probably not knowing the way Xiaomi treats their MTK customers. It's like we payed way less than those who bought SD or something, which is a pathetic approach from the company itself. We pay the same, but still get nothing. MIUI9 beta is nice to get, but the phone still suffers from the same problems it did from day one - horrible, horrible SOT and battery in general, and gross camera quality (compared to the SD version, which, btw, supports *no-support-for-this-app-on-this-forum* HDR+ mod).
