Redmi Note 4 Prime Pincode And Fingerprint No Longer Working

All of a sudden my pincode and fingerprint are no longer recognized, leaving my phone in a useless state. The phone also displays an error message telling me that com.android.phone stopped working.
I cannot enter recovery mode since there seems to be a bootloader lock.
I applied for an unlock but it takes a long time, I was happy with the phone, got it for about 1 month now, however, I'm in big trouble since I cannot use the phone any longer.

I had the same issue on a Redmi 3s. Nothing worked until I decided to open it up completely and disconnected the battery cable to reboot. Issue solved in no time. Make sure you have the proper tools for opening the device as the sides of the phone cover are quite brittle and chip very easily.
