New Trouble With Transferring Files

Hi everyone, I'm having troubles with transferring files out from my phone's internal storage. It keeps saying empty storage and whenever I did managed to access the files, eg photos, the photos took forever to load and the file explorer will hang. What is wrong? My internal storage is full and I have to clear out the photos in order to update apps, Thank you for the help!

Try to use android assistant tool to help you manage files, such photos on your mi phone from computer to check if there is the same error? You just need to connect your mi phone to pc, start the android assistant tool.
