what version did you have ? there is no risk of brick for version 9.6.17.0

phone came with the fake 9.6.1.0(ODMMIFD) version flashed the above twrp and updated to xiaomi.eu_multi_HM6Pro_8.8.30_v10-8.1.zip
found the above version while reading other forums while looking to see if there would be any issues upgrading, there was not

assuming your not downgrading you should be fine

fastboot getvar anti

If 3 you are safe and can roll back to previous versions of firmware

If 4 that rollback of firmware can lead to "brick"

I tried to install trwp ; but I got FAILED (remote: rollback version downgrade)
Redmi 6 Pro (unlocked)
Any hint please

Try booting twrp with fastboot boot twrp.img. Then flash twrp from twrp as img. Place twrp.img on internal storage/sdcard first. That was the solution for redmi note 5

If i give the boot command

"fastboot boot twrp.img"​

I received the answer

"downloading 'boot.img'
OKAY
booting ....
OKAY ...
finished "​

but nothing happens on the smartphone, It stay on the fastboot screen

Maybe try with different twrp version not this one. In couple days I should have mine R6pro. Then I'll give it a try.

Have you tried this redmi 6 pro toolkit before normal fastboot flash? Maybe it's screwing something up...

Finally, I got it work and installed MIUI 10 STABLE RELEASE

1 - I run commands:
fastboot flash recovery twrp.img
fastboot boot twrp.img

- but it asks for password
- I cancel and wipe data
- I install ROM (installation ends with errors)
- I restart
- phone boots in fastboot screen

2- I run commands again:
fastboot flash recovery twrp.img
fastboot boot twrp.img

-now twrp dose not asks for password
-I install twrp.img
-I install ROM
- Restart

Every thing works ok

Yes, I try wit toolkit also, but always the Failed error

- Backup first, otherwise you would lose your data.
