What Use Is The Updater App?

Hi, big noob here
What use is the updater app, I don't get updates?!
Running miui 8 by xiaomi.eu 6.7.28, how do I get an update with the updater app??

On xiaomi.eu roms, OTA updates are very rare.

Check the download threads for details on them.

So the updater app is of no use on for them.

Did you flash your current rom yourself? Or did the device come with it?

Hi, thanks for answering.
The phone came with this ROM, bought it from someone who knew how to flash etcetera.
Something I can't... So I was just wondering what the updaterapp is for, not much use :-(

I thought I could download a rom, put it on my phone via laptop and install with the updater app. Like in this video:

Yes you can but you have to check for updates yourself. You will get ota updates only with official rom from en.miui.com

If you have xiaomi.eu rom with default TWRP recovery installed, you should be able to update downloaded package via Updater app, Choose update package...

Although it haven't work for me in few weeks with Mi4 and Redmi 3, when i choose package it just flashes and nothing happens, had to install update manually with TWRP.
