Where to buy - Mi2 phone

boojay - Are you planning on sticking w/ miui or stock JB?

I'm coming from a HTC One X and before that an Xperia - I havent used miui much before and was happy to see stock, but I'm considering playing around w/ miui w/ Apex launcher.

I came from htc one x to... jesus compared to the MI2 phone the one x is pretty crap phone... battery was terrible and it always comes last in speed tests.

Mi2 wins in every angle over a day and a half and i still have 18% battery lol

Well, the One X had an early battery life issue and even with the early patch, it couldn't resolve the problem entirely.
The international version of the One X is using a Tegra 3 SoC which is one (if not the one) of the most consuming SoC right now (I can see it every day on my Nexus 7). We can explain the power consumption by the die size (80 mm^2 and 40 nm LPG process).

I think, for any given phone, Tegra 3 chip is one of the worst choice you can make performance/battery wise but I guess it was cheaper than some others solutions out there.

The battery on my HOX wasn't super, but with enough tweaks I fond it manageable or day to day - Issue was scenarios where I was going out for long periods. It's only day one with the mi2, so I cant compare just yet, but from what I've read I'm expecting much better.

One of my bigger concerns was size and so far I'm finding I'm pretty happy - The thickness wasnt as much of an issue as I was concerned it would be, though I wouldn't mind if it were a touch wider.

I was originally planning on installing stock jb, but I installed apex launcher over miui and so far like the combo. I'll give an update after I've had a chance to run the battery through a few days and get a feel for it overall.

For now I'll stick with MIUI Android. I did have one little hiccup where the phone randomly rebooted so that worries me a bit, otherwise I've been quite pleased with MIUI Android's extras. I'm not particularly fond of the launcher so I've replaced that.

I havent had any hiccups yet, which I am happy to see. What launcher are you using?

I've used ADW and LauncherPro in the past - giving Apex a try this round and liking it so far.

I bought mine from realpricesfromchina which seems like a good place to go and only getting better shipping method was dhl which was pretty fast

I've tried pretty much all the launchers and have found ADW Launcher (EX) to be consistently the smoothest as well as having the features I want.

I wish the launchers would incorporate the pinch out to hide icons (and just show bare desktop/wallpaper) like the Optimus G.

Had my second random reboot and this time during a very inopportune time. I was having lunch with some friends and was showing off my new phone. As I began playing the Dragontrail glass YouTube video, the screen went white and froze, then rebooted.

I'm a little worried now. Might try to flash stock JB and see if that's more stable.

Strange - I havent had any issues thus far. What version of MIUI are you using?

On another note, I have to say I have been pretty impressed by the battery so far - It's blown my HOX and Nexus 4 out of the water.

3.1.18

Aside from that though, this phone has been damn near perfect! Really loving the backup app, it just destroys Titanium Backup and My Backup Pro.

I like the nifty little features scattered throughout MIUI as well. Wish I could register an account with xiaomi to take advantage of their online services though. Email and sms registrations have failed.

I have no idea why it's rebooting. My usage had been pretty innocuous.

Warning!! android-sale.com is holding back pre-order money for their mi-2 reservations. They don't pay refund, although accepting order cancellation. Also paypal can't help, due to more than 45 days of payment. I hope to prevent others from making the same mistake. Be aware of android-sale.com!!! :(

I only had a day on or so in 3.1.18 before updating to 3.1.25 - So far no issues on this front and the battery life is far better than what I was expecting (especially coming from the One X) -

I havent tried going to stock as it seems some people are having touchscreen issues since updating to current MIUI roms.......

Ah, didn't realize there was a new update already. I'll have to get used to these timely updates! LOL

I'll give it a shot and hopefully it won't happen again. I had become accustomed to my last Rom which was so stable. I went weeks, months without issue.

So it rebooted again. It seems to happen every couple of days or so and is more embarrassing than anything because I could be in the middle of showing off my phone.

Anyway, I've updated to 3.1.25 and am hoping that will solve the issue, but won't hold my breath. If it happens again, I'm definitely trying a different rom even though MIUI Android is fantastic.

I bought this Xiaomi Mi-2 from Ibuygou last week. Special thanks to Celline and Mr Lau from Ibuygou for not disappointed me by answering all my questions regarding this nice phone. I've been using almost 30 android devices before including Samsung Galaxy S3 but I can say that this Xiaomi Mi-2 is the Best! I never regret to own this phone. Before bought this phone I considered to buy Meizu MX2 or Xiaomi Mi-2 but after reading a few review in the internet and the problem with Meizu Mx2, I decided to choose Xiaomi Mi-2. This phone is really great and powerful! I think I will stay with this phone for a long time until Xiaomi produce another great phone which is better than this phone :) Thanks Ibuygou! I will buy another units from u after this ;)

Won't be too long then mi3 due in August

Hey guys :D

Look what i got for posting this review haha, am 2nd!!!!

If you have bought your miui phones from ibuygou, you should make a review help them out :)

p.s still loving the phone and ibuygou, wish Xiaomi would make a tablet too

Great job and Congrats!!

And I completely agree - they've been a great seller to work with and as I know that there are a few others over here that have bought from them, take the time for the review as it is definitely worthwhile.

Hey there guys, can you confirm this on the miui.com site, features tab?
"Alarm Clock Always On

Just because you turned off your phone, does not mean your alarm clock will be disabled. The scheduled alarm on your MIUI phone will still go off."

I mean, does it really work with MI2 like the old Nokia phones where the alarm would ring even if the phone was powered off?
