Will Flashing Twrp Disable Updates ?

I'm interested in having an option backup the ROM of the phone. So i'm looking at this tutorial on how to flash TWRP :

But they say : "Caution: When you, Swipe to Allow Modification for the TWRP you might not get future update notification, so it is best to use KEEP READ ONLY option."

But if i keep "READ ONLY" , this means i cannot do restores , like yjlingo having the problem here :http://xiaomi.eu/community/threads/can-the-redmi-note-3-do-full-backup-restore.29704/

So it it true : either no updates , or no rom backups ?

Thanks for mentioning me. Actually I tried to cableflash the stock recovery, then tried to cardflash the Teamwin recovery，as I did the first time, to see whether I could get the warning message again, but the app would not work even if I gave it rooted previlege, so I had to cableflash the Teamwin recovery for the second time, now I am with that recovery and can not backup and restore.

I have TWRP and it's no problem with updates. You can use the MI updater or go to recovery TWRP and do the update in install with latest-rom.zip

Redmi 3 is different . Redmi 2 was pretty open , In 3 they started with the unlock codes, etc.
