Xiaomi Account — new method for Chinese region ✅

Hi everyone,
I tried a method and it worked — it was a long road and there’s still more to do, but I hope my step helps someone else move forward. I managed to create a Xiaomi account set to the China region without a Chinese phone number, using a simple Polish-number trick. Here’s what I did and where I’m stuck now.

TL;DR:
Download mi-unlock-7-6-727-43, don’t log in — click Create account, switch the language to Chinese (small “A” icon), then create the account using a Polish phone number while the region is set to China. Works for creating/logging in. Next obstacle: Mi Community / OEM unlock verification.

What I did (step-by-step):

  1. Downloaded mi-unlock-7-6-727-43.
  2. Opened the Mi Unlock tool but did not log in. Instead, in the login window I clicked Create account.
  3. Changed the language in that window — look for the small “A” (switch to Chinese) — after switching, the account-creation option appears as the Chinese-style phone-registration screen.
  4. The region is China, but the phone-number field lets you select a country code — I chose Poland (+48) and used a Polish number.
  5. Account was created and I could log in. Previously I had an error about region — this step removed that error.

Current status / problem:

  • I want to unlock my Xiaomi 17 Pro, but I’m stuck because “OEM unlock” / Mi Community verification still requires additional steps. The good news: we are past the region-related error now — that was a big blocker.
  • Mi Community is asking for verification for OEM unlock — I haven’t completed that part yet.

Notes / warnings:

  • Back up all data before attempting any bootloader/unlock steps.
  • Unlocking the bootloader may void warranty and erase data.
  • I’m not sharing or recommending illegal/unofficial bypasses for identity verification — I only describe what I did to register an account.

If you can help / want to team up:
If anyone has experience with Mi Community verification or has successfully completed OEM unlock after creating a China-region account with a foreign number, please share steps or DM me. Let’s try together — maybe with combined effort we’ll get the 17 Pro unlocked.

Thanks — any ideas or tips welcome!

I am trying to do this as well.
Also Xiaomi 17 Pro.
I can confirm Mi Unlock lets you choose a different region, but for me the process is stuck.

After entering my number, it just loads forever, saying 环境安全检测中...
Or "Environmental safety inspection in progress..." according to google translate.

So I cannot even create an account.
Did you see this issue at all?

And also, did you get the certification in the end? Any success?
Edit:
I managed to create an account as well. Now I have to wait 30 days, it seems.
(I had to update from the 6.7.* to the 7.6.* version of the app, which I had to download from some unofficial source... But it did work in the end.)
@th4luke any luck with the following steps so far?

Well I managed with a New Zealand phone number 100% works, because most chinese people go to New zealand so they would change their account phone number to a nz one. I signed up using a link from xda search chinese mi account sign up page I used that its a match

long time i have not used a xiaomi phone but in the past i was able to crossflash different localized firmware without unlocking bootloader , is this not working anymore so you can have global official rom until bootloader is unlocked to try custom rom ?

I'm not sure what a "long time" is for you and what kind of regulations might have been active back then.
But as far as my knowledge goes, the process you decribed does not and has never worked - at least not by design. Maybe there was a rare bug or smth allowing this...

apparently works for all roms except for china
the phones i croissflashed were on miui required copying whatever region you wanted to the phone and tricking the system to flash it , and the new localized rom was supposed to be newer version than the one that was in the phone to work , here is one video i found , use google translate but it is self explanatory , note that this worked only for official roms and i am not sure if this will work on china rom

Hey friend, I wanted to know if you were able to unlock the bootloader, and a question: to create an account in the Chinese region, do you use a virtual number?

I didn't use a virtual number I used a NZ phone number I gave up unlocking my phone the official way so I used a device specific exploit

How did you do it ?
I have an old Xiaomi china account long time ago but it keep xiaomi community error and i don't know how to bypass it

I used a tool that used some sort of device exploit. I had to reflash the system since it did some weird thing to the xbl or abl that made it think it was unlocked
