Hello, I updated to the latest (3.3.29) miui but decided to revert to 3.3.8 because of the gapps problem. Now when I boot I'm stuck on the black screen with the MI sign in the middle. What should I do?

You can't. Once on v5 you can't go back, unless you fully wipe everything. Data storage is different in new format, so it can't communicate in old version.
