Xiaomi Mi4i And Tado App Presence Detection

I have bought a Xiaomi Mi4i which I have rooted and installed the latest developer update (5.0.2 LRX22G and MIUI 5.8.28 Beta). I have installed the Tado app (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.tado) but unlike with the iPhones in my household the presence function does not work properly. My Mi4i keeps appearing like it is at home always. I have read this post on their support site (https://support.tado.com/hc/en-gb/articles/202194135-The-presence-detection-does-not-work-properly) where they mention this regarding Android:

• Please check that under Settings --> Location that all options are enabled. Especially check to see if Google’s location services are enabled.
• Some battery saver apps can influence geolocation (geo location) accuracy. Application currently recognized (Du Battery Saver)

However, I can't seem to these settings in the phone and it's MIUI interface. Can somebody help out?

you have to go to "security app" >> permissions >> permissions >> tado from list and grant permission to Location and Wifi.
If you can't (read only permissions), you must first enable the permissions
