Hi all,

I'm on JLB 7.0. I made a backup using MIUI's built in backup app. I want to upgrade to JLB 10.0. So let's say I want to restore my last backup, what's the procedure on doing this the correct way? Via recovery? A specific app? Is the backup file already flashable if it's via recovery mode?
I'm a bit lost on this..

Thanks

Use the same backup app. When you open the app, it will show old back ups date wise. Now you will see the restore option. You can select the apps you want to restore

What if I'm in a bootloop and cannot reach the backup app?

Your backup is saved on sdcard so no problem! Sort out the bootloop problem and then when on desktop use the backup app.

No idea, just curious. Thought if I'd be in some way of bootloop to fix using buttons to enter recovery.
So if it's not possible, MI2 should be stable enough not end in a bootloop?

You cannot "restore" JLB 7.0 over JLB 10.0. You'll have to wipe data (to avoid com.android.phone / SimProvider Sqlite downgrade crash popup spam) and install full JLB 7.0.

Backup only backs up and restores apk data

If you have trouble, hold Volume Up when you turn on the device (don't hold the Power button, it'll bootloop).

That takes you to the recovery system (first screen: choose English or Chinese. second screen: Reboot, Wipe Data, Install "update.zip" in sdcard root folder)

the update.zip in recovery, what does it contain? is that a flashable zip of a previous made backup or do I have to put that update.zip file manually in root of sdcard so it will appear there? Sorry for all these silly questions, trying to figure out how MI2 recovery works.

Previously, what I did was.. after backing up my data and settings.. I would use the file explorer in MIUI and enable WiFi file transfer. Copy the "backup" folder located in "MIUI" folder on root to PC.. after that, upgrade or do a complete wipe and flash. Once done, I will then copy back the backup folder into the phone via the same method and restore from phone. This is because I can't see the "MIUI" folder when mounted via USB cable. Even when sometimes you can see the folder, you can't copy files directly to it due to protection.. so I have to use the WiFi transfer in stock file explorer app.
