In the WIUI 4.4.4 v6 for Mi2S thread, developer Wajk writes the following:

What!!!!??
Noooooooooooooooooooooo!

I agree with you guys, I can't accept this action, too. :(
Thnx for your awesome work! Respect!

"XIAOMI.EU (Unofficial fan support site) closure notice
Due to recent actions by Xiaomi Corporation in China I have decided to mark the immediate closure of Xiaomi.eu. This is largely due to the fact that Xiaomi and its MIUI team have decided to take resources from our sites multi language project without any form of respect, credit or care. We have hadno prior contact from Xiaomi to ask us if we wanted to help resource this work, they have simply bypassed us and took all the hard work of translators and absorbed it into the own workflow.

No one should be treated this way, im very sad to be writing this content today but this cannot go on another day. Xiaomi need to realise that actions have consequences and unfortunately for them this is the consequence.

File mirrors will be deactivated in DNS shortly so grab what you need NOW

I will leave a link open to the forum here for a few more days in case any one needs to get information but the board will be READ-ONLY

Thanks for all the support over the years, its been a fun, emotional ride, but its time to finally close the doors and say goodbye to a corruptedcompany with one thing in their sights... profit and greed."

source

I cannot find the original source (source link takes me to xiaomi.eu homepage), so I was wondering if anyone could clarify - is this community really being shut down or not?

Thanks,
Patrick

The message has been removed. By the members of this site. At this moment it will continue.

Dutch users can read the article on tweakers. net.

Just came by and saw this news. For me I think they(Xiaomi.eu team & MIUI Corporation) must get some agreement somehow. Just my guessing and hope Xiaomi.eu not shutting down.

So, what's the full story here?

Xiaomi have implemented the translations from GitHub to their own ROM's?
(I do realize this is pretty damn rude, however is this not in the spirit of the Andriod Open Source Project, on which MIUI is based?)
They should definitely have at least credited all contributors, no doubt about it!

I mean yeah, we should definitely say something against a big ass company stealing the work of hard working people but I think it's a shame if they can actually succeed in destroying one of the best communities I've ever been lurking and a little active on. :(

It's not entirely true. Just Mark did a tragedy from this like always. But the fact is that one of official translators was badly treated by Xiaomi. Also some of the country translations for MIUI 6 were started on crowdin without our knowledge and info.

What do you mean, Mark did a tragedy like always.?

I didn't even know he was still here I have to admit!

Read what Hugo wrote him..
He just upset because they didnt accept him to a job so he "fight them" by this way.. -_-
I was wondering myself if that is the case... hmm...
But it seems to me (based on the message that was apparently appearing on here) that Xiaomi has been taking credit for the work of other people's work on here!

I might have misunderstood everything...
Because the G+ page strongly makes me believe that what you're saying is the case!

Let me chime in here for clearing this mess up!

1. I am not mad about no job at Xiaomi, sure I was a little upset but hey! I moved on! I am doing my own things in Shenzhen, China now and will tell more as time and security allows :)

2. The MIUI and Xiaomi quit for me was largely down to how the Chinese official company are treating us, the fans. Why should we continue as we have supporting a company who bypassed us for English forum, and now bypassing us for International ROM, no asking for help, no credit, no thank you.. nothing! I am not going to help fund their work any more for free. Others should take warning from this, Xiaomi lure people in with Free Mitu stuffed rabbits and other nonsense gifts, most of which costs them peanuts, so our time is worth peanuts to them! Not to mention same bugs, same communication issues and so on. Typical of a Chinese company, the bosses wont let go of their culture to embrace the global market place, this is why they have a low penetration to Europe, even other Chinese brands like Oppo, Zopo, Jiayu etc.

3. the 'then f**k off' comment from Mr Hugo Barra was in relation to my new project...

Here is the other part of the convo (some edits made due to the private nature of the project!)

So to be 100% clear, this is WHY I want to shut down this site. those reasons above and last nights argument with Mr Barra settled my decision. Protest Xiaomi, China if you want but it wont do any good I doubt!

Thanks,
Mark

where did you buy XIAOMI from?
Unrelated but I bought my Mi2S from Merimobiles.
Although I don't recommend that you buy the extra insurance/warranty thing, I mean I did and even though the screen broke within the extended warranty period, I was still forced to pay for the repair (and when you add the shipping costs it turns out I could've bought a completely new phone (although not a Xiaomi one) for the same money I had to spend for repair + shipping (87 dollars for repair + 42 dollars for shipping + had to pay Danish ******* ****** tax+toll (around 50 dollars)).

Wow.....

I'm still super confused !

Who's the actual owner and main admin on this forum?
Who can pull the plug, so to say?
And will this website actually be shut down or shall it continue to exist?

Sorry if answers are obvious.

Thanks for the quick answer!

Based on Mark's own answer (look below), it seems to me this website will be shut down :(

Dammit.

Why can't Xiaomi just give credits to their community when they have definitely helped the company sustain costumers and helped out with translations :(
