False alarm, it was due to the fastboot image used ...

One question though: have 4.4 betas emerged for Redmi 1S? Are these the "gucci" images (from armani heh)?
 
I was too eager to be happy here... :/

It seems there is some issue, since even flashing the fastboot STABLE (, then the xiaomi.eu and then wiping clean everything, lots of Chinese apps remained... I presume this is an issue with the xiaomi.eu firmware, that is it does not remove these Chinese apps upon installation?

You can download a zip file containing screenshots, as well as a screenshot of the /data/miui/app/customized directory. The latter was taken AFTER I installed a number of apps, so there are 3-4 apps at the end that were installed by me.

Should I uninstall the Chinese apps by hand, or should I leave it to be taken care in a future firmware update?

give me link to that miflash image... I never saw bloated MIUI version like that...

anyway you can delete whole customized folder by root browser and uninstall apps

Some of those apps are from unofficial rom installed by chinese resellers. They will always return after flashing new rom (even after manual uninstall) unless you do wipe_all fastboot.

This is how I got my redmi 2 lol. Even after full wipe in recovery and flashing 2-3 new roms, most of them come back every time.

This release seems fine, except I cannot find developer options anymore... Too bad :)

Steps to reproduce:
1) I visited http://en.miui.com/a-234.html which contains fastboot images

2) Downloaded the one titled "Redmi Note 4G Latest Stable Version Fastboot File Download" (link: http://update.miui.com/updates/v1/fullromdownload.php?d=dior&b=F&r=cn&n= )

3) Used miflash to flash in fastboot. I made sure to use flash_all.bat

4) After finishing succesfully, I booted once (into the English Chinese stable MIUI6 firmware)

5) In there, I loaded the xiaomi.eu 5.3.27 firmware into the internal memory and selected to flash it

6) Phone boots into recovery and flashes the multilang image.

7) Let it boot once, this time it does not start the initial setup wizard

8) I then reboot into recovery to do a last full wipe (cache, data, everything)

9) After this I boot again, but this time the setup wizard is initiated.

Like I said, this is not the first time I'm doing this. I am always following this procedure on Redmi 1S (MIU5 firmware), Mi3 (both MIUI5 and now 6) and also on Redmi Note 4G (single SIM of course). This is the first time I can not get rid of these garbage...

I will uninstall them alright. And I presume that it is safe to remove the customized folder?

I have to ask though: am I doing something wrong here? Why can't I get rid of these apps?

Mate you are scaring me... I am waiting a couple of Redmi 2. This will be a serious problem. Did you also try to fastboot flash first, before flashing the xiaomi.eu firmware? If so, we are in the same boat here :(

If not, then please try to full fastboot flash an official image, before flashing the xiaomi.eu image.
 
I've problem with SMS limit character, when my sms goto second page it's convert to mms and I want to prevent it, becasue mms won't work via my operator.
would you please upload the Mms.apk for me without limitation please ?
as I know we have to change
<int name="smsToMmsTextThreshold">400</int>
but I couldn't do that :(
