Which Rom? (no Mi Apps)

Hi,

I have a Redmi Note 2 Prime, currently running 7.1.3 Global, but I'm looking for a rom without all the Mi Apps (I don't use or want them). I don't really want to run a Developer rom either; I am simply looking for a stable release.

From what I can see, sMIUI is exactly what I'm looking for.

I understand I need to install TWRP - Best done by flashing TWRP 3.0 via Fastboot and next flashing the sMIUI rom via the custom recovery, correct?

Will sMIUI be releasing 7.2 stable anytime soon? I hear the battery life has improved over 7.1.3. Also, will the global sMIUI rom feature England as a locale? Currently MIUI 7.1.3 does not.

If I have anything wrong, please let me know.

sMIUI is a start but its removal of the Xiaomi/MIUI stuff doesn't go deep enough. For a more thorough approach, take a look at the "Skinny MIUI" topic over at XDA Developers. Sorry for not posting a link, I am prohibited from doing so because I don't yet have 10+ posts here.

Please note that it's NOT a ready-to-flash ROM, rather a DIY methodology to end up with a very light ROM.

Thank you very much. I had breezed over the topic in the past, but it seems a little too much to wrap my head around. Perhaps this is something I can tackle in the future.

You could try AOSP from vova.vafin... It's a mixed rom,it's got Clearmotion and some libs from miui... Camera quality is also good, and the only thing that doesn't work is radio. You can find also on XDA..
