Accelerometer Calibration

I think that the accelerometer on my Redmi 3 is a bit miscalibrated towards left side.

Because of this, when I play games that are motion sensor based & uses accelerometer, for e.g: Asphalt 8, the car will always move towards left even when the device is being perfectly held horizontal.

Is there a way to calibrate the sensor? I searched for the solution but none of the codes that should get me to sensor calibration works on MIUI 7.

Go to Compass app

I can't find the option to calibrate accelerometer in the compass app. I see it's miscalibrated but there's no Settings or some other menu.
Btw, I have tried various apps from the Play Store that should calibrate the accelerometer but with no success :(

OK, I got the answer on miui forum. If someone else has this problem:
1) boot to recovery (power + volume-up)
2) open sensor testing
3) open accelerometer testing
4) put the phone on a flat surface and click "Calibrate"
5) once the calibration is complete, complete other tests (x-, x+, y-, y+, 45+ degrees and 45- degrees). After that, the calibration should be saved.

im doing a test but cannot make 45+ degrees and 45- degrees test passed, anyone to tell me how to test it ?

It's really hard and I don't know how to explain the position in which the phone must be to complete the test.
If it can help you, for the 45+ test the values have to be X 5,5; Y 5,5; Z 5,5. For the 45- test the values the values have to be X -5,5; Y -5,5; Z -5,5. I hope it will help you.

calibration did't help, my picture still shaking on cardborad videos. also I saw few same issues with redmi 3 on offical forum. any tips for it ?

The problem with the cardboard videos is normal since the Redmi 3 doesn't have a real gyro. It just emulate a gyro using the accelerometer and compass. See yourself by clicking 5 times on "Kernel version" to enter the CIT mode. Then go to single tests. No gyro there.

If I do this, y can see the gyro button and values. Are you sure that Redmi 3 has no gyro?

Hello, i restore this old discussion to point that Redmi Note 11S has the same problem. With my old Redmi Note 9 Pro i didn't have any problem watching VR videos. With this new phone the video slowly drift to one side.
Tried:
- removing cover
- keeping phone far from me
- tried in mountain without anything around that could interfere
- factory reset
- other vr app
- tried with cardboard

Even now that i got MIUI 14 the problem persists.

I tried calibration of gyroscope (using a level to find the correct position as this phone has camera out of body so if you put on a table it will not be level ).
For the accelerator calibration isn't that easy because when you clic on "Calibration" then you must find correct positions if you want to have the "ok" button enabled. I searched on internet which positions i have to put the phone for a correct calibation but i couldn't find it. I opened a ticket from phone explaining the problem but any solution (only factory reset and calibration).

I tried an app called "Spirit level" which shows you how to calibrate ,but the problem persists.

If someone has a solution, it will be well accepted :)

It's awful that a nice good phone has this problem. I spent more money because i like to watch VR videos and this is the result.

Thanks
