All-in-one Guide Compilation On How To Flash Xiaomi.eu Roms On Your Mi5s

Just rename it twrp, leave out the .img
I used the Chinese TWRP and could rename the file into twrp.img after copying it to the folder from which i worked.

Thanks anyway for your reaction.

Mi5s is on 6.11.10 beta now.

I am on xiaomi.eu stable rom. If decide to switch to xiaomi.eu weekly, should I have clean flash, or can save time and do dirty flash?

I always do clean flash with back up. Don't need to save time.

Yes, flash twrp, and backup your current rom, do a wipe system, data, cache only internal storage dont touch. Than flash rom. After that reboot, twrp maybe warn you that there is not os on phone but ignore that ann reboot, wait 5 minutes ans system will boot

Hi, I have recently bought a mi5s and it comes with a modified ROM. So I was thinking if the bootloader is already unlocked.

I did this to check it:

That means the bootloader is unlocked so I can install the xiaomi.eu ROM?

Hi! I just bought a Xiaomi Mi 5s and in the settings says that i have the ROM MIUI 8.1 by xiaomi.eu 6.10.13 Beta.
Based on what i have read in the forum so far, does that mean that my phone is already unlocked?
If i want to update the ROM to the newest release from xiaomi.eu, do i need to use the full process of flashing as in this tutorial or is there an easiest way of doing it like using the update tool from the phone? Do I need to do a factory reset before updating it?
I am not experienced and I am afraid of bricking my phone.

I would really appreciate the help.
Thanks!

Hi, i think your device is unlocked already. But i think it should be miui 8.2

Hopefully this friday there will be an update. Connect your phone to your pc. It must be Recognized by it, you will see that in the explorer. Put your usb connection on the screen of your phone (pull down) on sharing files. Download the ROM from miui.eu on your pc. Drag (copy) the ROM (zip) to internal storage of your phone. Dusconnect your phone when finished. Then go to updater app. Let it search for update, there won't be an update. Then click on the 3 dots right above the screen. Choose "select update package"
Search for the ROM zip in the storage of the phone. Click it and ok. Then it should be installed by twrp.

You also can check your explorer of the phone if there's twrp in it. If not you must install twrp capricorn first.

Hi Thank you so much for your clarifications!
If by any chance my phone is not unblocked and I proceed with the instructions you give me. Is there any chance that will brick or anything like that or will it be just a error reported and basically the phone doesnt proceed with the installation?

Also, i have opened the explorer app in the phone (basically the one that shows you the content and folder of the phone) and i have searched by twrp but there was no folder or file with that name. Does that mean i need to install it or am I checking in the wrong place?

Thanks!!!

Hi, when your phone is not unlocked, there will be a message that the update is not being recognized. No big deal.

When you open explorer of the phone you must go to "phone" (tab right). Standard it will show other folders.
Check it please.

I have checked the "phone" tab and searched twrp and capricorn with no results displayed. The folders I have are generic ones like Alarms, Android, Browser, DCIM, etc.

Thanks a million!

Then there's another check for knowing if TWRP is on your phone. Turn your phone on in recovery mode. First turn it off. Then push volume+ / power button. You will feel a little fibe. Keep on pushing both till there's Mi logo on the screen. Let it go. Then you should the logo of TWRP. Team Win Recovery Project. Blue logo. If that's the case, your device is unlocked and you can install the ROM next friday (if it will be out)

Hello! I would to thank you so much for all the help you are providing me. I really appreciate it.
I have done the steps as instructed and there is a logo but it is not blue.
The logo is an alien and it says "recovery project 3.0.2 by x"

Hi Maria, I have the same TWRP. It's the Chinese version. It's an alien with black head and red eyes. Text: Recovery Project 3.0.2-X by BY~XM. After it starts up there's the menu in blue bar and tabs. So I installed this one also. So, that means that you have TWRP and you can install the ROM you want. Compatibele with Capricorn (mi5s). Just copy the zip (ROM) from your pc (if downloaded the ROM to your pc, you can als download the zip to your phone, but i never do that) to the internal storage of your phone which is connected to your pc. Be sure that your phone is in the explorer of the pc. And set the usb connection on sharing files.

Good luck. Let me know oké?

Bye bye,
Alex

Hola, sorry i forgot that you probably did not set the Chinese TWRP in english or spanish. I set it in Dutch. Do you know how to do that?

Hi!! Yes, it was set up in English so it is ok.
I have tried to install the adb in the PC because I have found that through commands it is possible to check the status of the unlocked bootloader but it doesn't seem to recognize the phone. I need to see if I can uninstall the drivers and reinstall.
Funny thing is that according to miflash it seems it is not unlock so I am having doubts. :)

Hi, I often have driver problems because of Windows 10. It does not accept drivers without certification. But, your phone has TWRP, so it must be unlocked. What you can do: download the latest dev ROM capricorn, 6.12.1 on your pc. Put it in a USB stick and put that in your phone. But you need to have the right USB stick, it has to fit. If you do not have such a stick, you also can download the zip ROM directly to your phone with wifi. Then start up your phone in recovery mode and choose "install". Then search for the zip ROM you downloaded to your phone (it should be in folder download) and choose the zip, press ok.

Or you can try uninstall the drivers from your pc and connect your phone to your pc. Hopefully your windows will install the drivers automaticly again.

The guide worked great for me! Awesome job!

I just had to install the minimal adb and fastboot driver separately as the adb provided in the action plan didn't worked for me. Not sure if it's because I used Windows 10 64Bit. However with the adb and fastboot driver downloaded from here: http://www.chip.de/downloads/Minimal-ADB-and-Fastboot_62500183.html
... it worked flawless.

Just one more thing. Does OTA updates work?
