Please help! I am trying to flash the latest global stable or developer ROM to Mi4 with MIUI Global 7.2.4.0 (KXGCNCK) that I suspect is a modified ROM because of al the popup comercials and such.

I tried using Mi Flash, downloaded the latest Global ROM (tried both Global and Developer). When I press Flash I get to 1s and it says succesful.

Bootloader is locked, I don't know if that's the problem. It was bought that way.

This device comes with an unlocked bootloader. Download a fastboot rom Miui V8 android 6.0. And he also tested with various versions of Miflash tools.

I know Mi4 comes with unlocked bootloader. Had the same problem with diferent Mi4: after flashing fasboot global stable rom I was offered OTA update which locked the bootloader. Trust me, this one is locked. My question is: could the locked bootloader be the reason why I can't get past 1s flash successful when flashing eather official global stable or developer?

There is no way to lock it. Are you sure you have Mi4? I replayed a screenshot from Settings - About the phone - Miui version.

It's something they do with new ROM-s. Like I said, had the same problem before, someone instructed me to unlock it unofficialy via comand that went something like: fastboot oem device unlock. So I did and was able to flash twrp and xiaomi.eu weekly.

I checked by: fastboot oem device-info. Bootloader is locked.

But I had redmi 2 with locked bootloader recently that I succesfully flashed both global stable and developer ROM.

But with this Mi4 it's done in 1 sec and says successful but no change is made to phone.

I honestly do not believe the bootloader has locked you up. Download the recovery rom and through updater upgrade. You should call it update.

"fastboot oem unlock" should unlock cancro bootloader.
That is how I unlocked mine when I ended up with locked bootloder while trying out Global stable and wanted to revert to xiaomi.eu.

But is locked bootloader the problem? Is locked bootloader relevant if flashing Official ROM-s?

I will have to give trying different versions of Mi Flash a chance. I only used the latest available and that got me no where.

Or is there a specific ROM I have to flash given that I'm upgradeing from android 4.4 to 6?

Yes, you can't write on most partitions (except with MiFlash in download mode).

Any official factory image from en.miui.com should work, i always flash latest china developer version if going to xiaomi.eu weekly.

I am giving it another try, this time taking screenshots. Did the fastboot oem unlock command, bootloader now says unlocked, still no luck flashing global stable via fastboot method. What am I doing wrong?

I think twrp and xiaomi.eu will work just fine on Mi4 LTE-CT. It`s a cancro device
Minimal to no risk at all flashing twrp, if successful you can flash any cancro rom

Hello, I also have problems with flashing. Mi4 LTE is in bootloop. Recovery and fastboot are not working. When i try to flash latest fastboot china dev rom i will get error:

Somebody can tell me what to do?

Thanks,
Alex

Bad battery can cause weird problems, including flashing errors or flash seems to go ok, but nothing gets written.
I think it' the connection with the battery. I tried a new one. I think it's not charging. The little led down in the middle lights up a few times red. The Mi4 stays in a bootloop. But how can i make this work?

Can you get it to EDL mode?

http://en.miui.com/forum.php?mod=viewthread&tid=194864&page=1#pid4932111

I think it should go EDL with: power and USB cable off, hold down both volumes, connect USB cable and release buttons. Qualcomm port should come to Windows Device Manager under Ports. MiFlash can write fastboot images in EDL mode.
I tried your way and "adb reboot edl".
But no device found in windows command. No edl mode.
Flashing still not succeeded.
What can i do?

Thanks Pertti for your help. I sure will try this too. I hope i can get the device in edl mode. Because the device will not stay in fastboot mode. Everytime it gets out of it because of the loop it's in. The strange thing however is that MiFlash recognize the device, but my laptop does not in windows cmd screen.
The device is in Mi logo loop, does not stay in fastboot mode, nore recovery (twrp) mode and the little led (charger) is flickering in red.
Story continues....

I will let you know again

If boot loop is about 10 seconds all the time, could be faulty power button.
I had this problem before with a Mi3 after dismantling and putting together again. The powerbutton got stuck somehow.

A screen + frame + backcover were already delivered, so i am going to build this Mi4 up and see what happens. I think you're right. And hope so.

Tomorrow i will start with it. Don't know when it is finisbed, but i will let you know.

Thanks again my friend.

It was a problem with power button and charger as well. I used this parts from a working Mi4 and then all worked. So i flashed the fastboot rom with succes, installed TWRP and installed latest MUI. It's fine now.
