Magisk is interesting, a one-man multi-year ongoing duell with Google, run by one (1) admittedly very talented college student.

I'm not saying whether anyone should or should not use Magisk, but everyone who does should have an understanding of the proportions involved.

I guess radio/modem Fw is rather buggy. See also the massive cell standby drain whiles connected to wifi.

Hi, I made the update for my mix2, everything gone well, and I thank you for your great work, but I find 2 little annoying bugs:

1_ the notification bar is not clear as it was, it is with a darker "shade" on homescreen (and it's ok) the main annoying problem is with fullscreen(ex: YouTube or games), seems to take the upper row of pixels and drag them beneath the notification bar
2_ the light sensor seems to be ignored every so often and the screen suddenly becomes brighter

One last request/suggestion :) "game turbo" is become awful, I personally don't like the new blueish design, i can stand the "home", but is really odd the "game turbo complete" banner that pop up starting a game and the new side tab style...it was all so clear and neat before..I think a switch in the setting would be very appreciated :)

Interesting or not, that is not the question. The issue is that most of the problems faced today when using our ROM is from the use of Magisk. Be it a one-man show or not, that as I say is not the topic of debate :) talent also has nothing to do with it.

Perhaps the developer could get more "involved" with this community to resolve some of these quirks and bugs. That would be better than the endless stream of inconsistencies and problems people post here.

1)- I was on latest stable 10.2.1 stock, with Google messages I was able to turn everything to black including settings app.
2)- I heard they say I should flash nougat and add fp then flash latest rom, but I don't think this is the most convenient solution.

I created a zip file to flash in TWRP and enables encryption on Android 9.0 on Mi6.
First flash the update and immediately after the update this file. Do not reboot the device untill the extra zip file is flashed.
Use TWRP 3.3.0-1
Zip file to enable encryption can be downloaded here

brightness is going from low to high and back without any reason .... MI 9 SE with 9.5.9 release; hope will be fixed in next issue

What did you change?
Only fstab.qcom?
Note that fstab.qcom may change and you are using a specific file, better way would be to edit the file and change it...
Assuming fstab.qcom does not change in any other value except encryption, this will be fine.

This zip saves a few clicks though :)

Can you explain a little more about fixing gPay.

Mi 8 (Dipper) with .eu Rom. No Root.

Tried all Tutorials i could find. Including clearing Caches, Rename .gms Folder,...
Nothing is working, always get the message: Einrichtung zur Zahlung in Geschäften konnte nicht abgeschlossen werden. (Configuration couldn't completet...)
 
Really urgent question: can someone tell me if this week's rom has the loudspeaker echo issue (usually with noise suppressing apps such as Messenger, Skype etc), or has it been fixed?! I'm using HMNote7

My point made was too subtle, perhaps -

If Google becomes tired of what Magisk is doing, they could quite easily shut it down in any number of ways.

Nicely, so that it just stops working, or hamfistedly, like Xiaomi with ARB, so that folks using it brick their phones with no recourse.

Whatever happened to the once so popular "jailbreaks" in Apples phones?
As I understand it, Apple just effectively shut them down.

So I would think twice of becoming dependant on a service like Magisk, doing things that the owner of Android does not want folks to do, however much "Open Source" it seems to be.

Hello all. On my mi5c I seen some issues too. Chrome has sometimes lag. Smart scenes new button is missing. Battery stop under 12-18 percents..probably it seen wrong by system.

Had the wild auto brghtness fluctuations in my Mix1 immediately after flashing.

I went into Settings/Display/Brightness and toggled it off & on, and fiddled with the slider there back and forth.

After that it has worked normally.

Might not help you, buy is easy and painles to try.
 
I saw this line ro.media.enc.jpeg.quality=100 in my build.prop under # ADDED BY XIAOMI.EU # is it really making a difference?
