unable to download gmail attachment either on WIFI or mobile data after updating the MIUI 13.0.4 fastboot rom on my Mi 11 phone.

Please fix this asap. this is a very critical bug. Please prioritise and do let me know if you need any more details. Appreciate it.

Thanks

A factory data reset erases your data from the phone. While data stored in your Google Account can be restored, all apps and their data will be uninstalled. Can't we fix this in any other alternate way or can we wait for the next ROM to resolve this ? As I have a lot of apps/bank details/dual apps etc., which i don't want to be lost. Appreciate if you can please prioritize this fix or advise alternate solution other than factory reset.

thanks

will the uninstall/remove updates on gmail and reinstall gmail app - or clear data and clear cache on gmail app - can fix it ?

no mate, i have uninstalled, rebooted phone and reinstalled gmail. Its still the same. Not working :( even with wifi r mobile on. something like a small logo comes on the top - green color and goes away immediately like in a fraction of a second....something like waiting for network or something if we see from the notification. drop down .

to summarise, it didnt work.

I had this issue, but had to do a factory reset which fixed it. Annoying I know but a factory reset often helps with other under the hood things.

factory reset is a very critical operation, as it will remove all the gpay details, bank details, cc finger prints, wifi's, mobile comm nw's , all the sms etc., we might get the photos and apps and contacts, which is OK. but the major issue will be with so many other things, which we can't get even if we backup the phone. As some bank apps and payment app's, passwords etc., will need to reregister with the phone fingerprints etc., I don't think any short cut or backup will fix that.

I can live with the attachment not working till the next rom release, and will see if there it gets fixed by itself or any other resolution by anyone else, factory reset will be VERY LAST option in the world. I don't have so much time and energy to fix it back. not an easy task.

If anyone fine any workaround or fix. please update this thread. it will be very useful to many people who are facing this problem. Appreciate it.

Thanks

I was in the same boat I know. Its been an issue for over a month and likely won't/ cant be patched.

It might take you 30 mins to reset your phone and redo backups and fingerprints and Gpay etc. I would just rip the band aid off and do it when you have time - if it isnt fixed on this week's release.

hi developers,

Any settings which we can try to fix it on the storage part related ? I know you guys said its not the rom side, but on storage. So any options to reset the storage or change anything or try anything at least instead of a factory reset. Please at least give me a solution to try or any work around is appreciated.

How come when other rom upgrade's worked fine, this didn't ? So there should be something miui 13.0.4 was done differently. Isnt it ? Please enlighten.

Thanks & Regards,

I tried so many options with permissions, caches, reinstalling and the likes but nothing worked.

It wasn't just Gmail that has a setting out of place as this issue was present on telegram and WhatsApp etc. 8 believe it was introduced from upgrading to A12 from A11 when permissions got messed up at a deeper level.

so you haven't done factory reset yet and waiting for the next build ?

If the permissions got messed up at a deeper level, then the next rom version ain't gonna fix it ? Is factory reset and reinstall rom is the only option ?

So the setps are factory reset + reinstall rom 13.0.4 + reinstall all the apps like restore backup taken on 13.0.4 . Is that right ?

How can we make sure that the backup taken on 13.04 and if we restore that the permissions won't be screwed again on the factory reset phone.

Thanks

A factory reset and clean install fixed it for me - hence getting around A11 to A12 upgrade.

I think update to latest weekly build, factory reset which mean it should then be a clean install and shouldn't need reflashing as simply deleting all user data leaving core android system to create a new user.

I would be hesitant with using an app backup as some data may be pulled back through that is causing the problem, but I guess if that doesn't work then just a fresh install and won't be much extra work or time.

Perform factory reset
Hi Igor,

After taking the backup of the app's on the current rom 13.0.4, we do a factory reset, reinstall the fastboot stable rom 13.0.4 on the factory reset phone and restore the backup of the apps. Will that resolve or if we restore the apps again, will it corrupt the storage issues again ? Please advise.

Its difficult to install all 75 apps on the phone individually. I am confused. Please advise.

Thanks
RP

You've installed miui13 and haven't even read the reviews about how it works.
You went the easy way.
Restore factory settings from the phone. Do not reinstall miui13, no need to do so. Everything will work.

but what about the apps. u mean, restore factory settings and restore the backup ?

Settings> about phone> factory settings> erase everything

then after reconfiguring, you can restore your applications from the xiaomi cloud.

Same bere. It started like a week ago.
Attachements from gmail account in gmail app wont open.
Attachements from some other, non-gmail account, will open normally in gmail app.
Attachements from gmail account will open in Outlook app.
Did all the cleaning...
What's the catch?

Factory reset right after ROM install worked for my Mi11. You could try https://github.com/MuntashirAkon/AppManager to check/deny/give permissions for Gmail.
