I can't unlock the bootloader. It was supposed to unlock today, but it's giving this error.

I am in the exact same situation. I am getting the same message and cannot unlock the bootloader. My device is a K60 Ultra China version.

Looks like Xiaomi started verifying Xiaomi Account regions... If account region is not China, then you won't be able to unlock Chinese devices officially, even with bypass.

The problem is that it has a Cn device with a Global rom and the locked bootloader, the rom has been modified, which prevents unlocking and all updates.

I read about this, does it mean going forward, locked CN phones cannot be unlocked?

yeah seems like this is it for importing devices to other places besides china, unless you use these third party unlock services.

Really sucks that Xiaomi has Phones/Tablets that only sell in china.

I am encountering same issue with my old mi 5 I guess we have to wait until a new way found

I bought a Redmi Note 13 Pro in China.. only to be facing this problem which I hadn't encountered with my previous Xiao Mi phones! :(

If I manage to create a brand new Mi Account using a Chinese +86 number, will that enable me to unlock my phone and solve the problem? Or are there additional hoops I have to jump in unlocking my phone (e.g., it's a brand new Account, additional waiting or verification, etc.)?

Plenty. Among them: Account level 5 on Xiaomi Community, specific periods for applying for unlocking and a quiz in Chinese you have to pass.

So, I managed to get Chinese contact to borrow his Chinese Mi Account (>30 days) on MiUnlock. The error message on MiUnlock is now "Please add your account in Settings > Developer options > Mi Unlock Status", and when I got there, I wasn't able to add his acocunt because the phone says "The system is being upgraded. Please try again".

Is this the end of the road? Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. Thank you very much.

Xiaomi have to remove this limitation for users because we will stop buying their phones en masse. We are not in China, so they should remove the blockade

I just used the translator... I already corrected what I wrote. Thanks.
ooh all good! i think third party unlock is the only way now but that can be pricy..
And i dont know if theres any trouble later on when you unlock your phone unofficially.

Once you buy the phone it is your property. I think that users are the only ones who can get them to reverse the traditional method, and when their sales numbers are affected.

Well this is a major pita. I'm in the same boat. Mi 11 Ultra running Hyper OS.

Try that option.

Try that option.
Thanks. I came back here to post about this, there's a video of how to do it (in Chinese, but you can follow it anyway) on XDA. Unfortunately, it only works on genuine Global devices, not devices sold in the Chinese market and then sold here as Global. This turns out to be what I bought.

For anyone looking, this exploit involves replacing the stock Settings app, then using a program to intercept the request via USB and modify it. It looks complicated at first, but it's pretty straightforward when you try it. XDA forums have links to the downloads you need.

I will never buy a Chinese Xiaomi again, due to a bad installation my cell phone was blocked by a "destroyed system" that blocks the boatloader for "security" and a year ago for 30 dollars I was able to unlock it but now they charge me 85 dollars and that is the cost for all models so I decided to install miui 14 for 30 dollars thinking that I could unlock it on my own like in the past but now I realize that it is not possible so my cell phone will stay with the boatloader blocked forever, I am very upset with Xiaomi

Which Device is it?

I just picked up a genuine global Mi 12, old/new stock, never been used. It's still running MIUI 13, and Mi Unlock worked like it's supposed to. I was able to log in to my Mi account in developer settings and the Mi Unlock app did it's thing and told me to wait 168 hours, which is what I was expecting.

One other thing, I'm not sure about the other carriers, but my Mi 11 Ultra with its Chinese bands is becoming almost unusable anyway on T-Mobile because of recent network changes. They seem to be making more use of band 66 which a lot of Chinese phones don't have. This was my reason for changing, so I probably would have needed Global devices in future anyway, although cutting off the supply of Chinese market Global devices makes it painful to find one. I think the one I have now was originally a AT&T device from Mexico.
